Terrace Downs is a full 18 hole championship course and is rated as one of the top courses and golfing destinations in New Zealand. At par 72, the course is challenging. However, a choice of four tees on each hole ensures the course caters for a range of golfing abilities. The 6,440-metre long course incorporates 11 lakes and 70 bunkers, providing plenty of obstacles for even the most experienced player.

The layout of Terrace Downs is a unique mixture of Parklands and Links. The natural environment of Terrace Downs has been unaltered and all course/ property development have been designed to merge in with the countryside and peaceful settings. Based at the foothills of the Southern Alps, there are very few scenic alpine courses like it.

LOCATION
Terrace Downs is situated approximately one hour’s drive west of Christchurch International Airport; on Coleridge Road in Windwhistle.

Driving instructions from Christchurch International Airport

                • Turn right onto Russley Road at the second roundabout as you leave the airport.
                • Travel about 8 minutes on Russley Road until you come to traffic lights. Turn right at these lights, onto Yaldhurst Road (State Highway 73).
                • Follow State Highway 73 for about 15 minutes (you will travel through Yaldhust and then West Melton), until you see a green sign on your left indicating a turn off to Hororata. This is Aylesbury corner. Take the left turn off, go over the railway tracks and continue on the same road which veers to the right.
                • Travel along this road for about another 20 minutes, until you reach Hororata.
                • Turn left at the roundabout after the garage, following the sign to Rakaia Gorge and Terrace Downs.
                • Stay on this road for about another 20 minutes, going straight ahead after stopping at the stop sign in Windwhistle.
                • You will see a sign and Terrace Downs’ big stone gates on your left after about 10 minutes after passing through the intersection.
                • Turn left to travel through the gates, then follow this road as it goes up the side of the golf course then curves down to the Clubhouse. Reception is located in the Clubhouse.
